Summertime Shoot for Dotty Vintage
Anyone who knows me well will know my absolute passion for Cornwall. So, when I was chosen to be a part of a collaborative shoot in Newquay for Dotty Vintage Weddings, I was over the moon! Think big hair, pretty make up, brightly coloured flowers, elegant dresses from County Cream Bridal House and a wedding venue on the beach. Throw it all together and you get one very epic showcase of images which I am extremely proud to share with you.
Our beautiful location was a private beach belonging to the stunning venue Lusty Glaze. If anybody is thinking of getting married in Cornwall then you really need to look this venue up!
For our first look, we started off on a more subtle tone. Our gorgeous model Lisa has beautiful naturally curly hair, so I worked with this to create a big hair updo which was aided by some hair padding and lots of retro back combing. The talented Teresa Jolly complemented this look by applying a beautiful natural style of make up.
To say we were lucky with the weather on the day is an understatement! The forecast predicted heavy rain most of the day, but we were blessed with glorious sunshine all day long – apart from a light shower at lunch break. We used the strong sea breeze to our advantage for flowing veil shots and a couple of comical outtake shots.
Now, the second look is by far my favourite hairstyle I have created in all of my career as a hairstylist. Although it took almost 3 days to prepare the hair extensions, when I saw the images for the first time I knew it was worth every second. With a deep side parting and a sleek finish to the scalp area of the hair, I added the extremely long hair extensions to the bottom half of the head. Our look was finished off just beautifully with some bold make up, a pop of red lips, and a vibrant bouquet created by the fabulous Lou of Loulabel Designs.
Once again, our stunning images were captured by the extremely talented Andrea Pennington. I’ve never had the pleasure of working with a photographer who is so versatile and produces amazing images in the many styles she uses. We were also privileged to have our shoot filmed by Celina from Electric Weddings, who just captured the fun atmosphere of the shoot down to a tee.
